Care and Cleaning

 

UGG® Australia uses only the highest-grade sheepskin available. Twin-face sheepskin is used in many of our core products. A piece of twin-face sheepskin has been treated on both the fleece side, and the skin side, providing the soft comfort UGG® Australia is famous for.

 

Grade-A sheepskin is extremely dense and soft, which provides for a more comfortable and durable material. Lesser quality material and synthetics can be coarse, scratchy, and non-breathable. Grade-A sheepskin breathes naturally, wicking away moisture, and allowing air to circulate freely.

 

Fleece breathes, wicks moisture away, and allows air to circulate, keeping feet dry. Sheepskin is naturally thermostatic thus keeping bare feet close to your natural body temperature regardless of the temperature outside.

 

Your UGG Boots are constructed from merino sheepskin which provides unrivalled comfort but also requires special care. Sheepskin leather is porous meaning it will absorb most liquids fairly easily. Sheepskin Boots can be treated with water repellents but these need to be reapplied quite frequently and will obviously provide no protection should you miss a spot applying the protector. For these reasons we advise our customers not to wear their boots in the rain and avoid damp conditions.

 

30° Below - the science behind thermostatic footwear

 

Our fine woolen sheepskin breathes, wicking heat and moisture away to keep your feet dry and at body temperature indoors and out.

 

Sheepskin is a naturally thermostatic material. This means that while you're wearing sheepskin, it's automatically regulating your body temperature throughout the day. Because of this, UGG® Australia sheepskin footwear can be worn all year round.

 

In addition to regulating body temperature, grade-A sheepskin breathes naturally, wicking heat and moisture away.

 

Water resisting

 

Sheepskin is naturally water resistant, and therefore small amounts of moisture will not seep through or damage it. For more complete protection, we recommend treating products with a Stain and Water Repellent. Boots with full grain leather uppers are waterproof, but it is still recommended that they be treated. We do recommend waterproofing them if you intend on wearing them in heavy snowfall or rain.

 

Just spray your boots, allow 10 min to dry and wear them away! Waterproofing your sheepskin boots will protect your boots from cooking oil, dirt or water and increase their life. Be aware though, that once your footwear get wet, you need to apply another coat after they have dried. The first time this coating is applied should ideally be when the footwear is new.

 

Washing the UGGs

 

Wet entire boot or shoe with cold water. UGG Shampoo & Conditioner to a clean sponge or soft brush. Clean entire area thoroughly and evenly. You might use an old toothbrush to help in the washing process. Once you have washed and rinsed the footwear in cold water, place them in your washing machine and put it on a spin cycle for a few minutes just to get rid of the excess water.

 

Reshape by stuffing with paper towel.

 

Allow to dry naturally and slowly - DO NOT dry in direct heat or sunlight. You will notice once the footwear have dried that they have shrunk slightly but this is normal. After wearing them for an hour or so, they will go back to the normal, warm and comfortable state you are used to and at the same time, be clean.

 

Here is some tips easy to remember.

1. Keep your boots away from water and snow. To prolong the life and shape of your boots you should keep them from becoming damp.

2. Use a damp cloth to gently rub away grime.

3. Stuff your boots full of old socks or newspaper (to help keep the shape)

4. Place your boots in a cool well ventilated place to dry (out of direct sunlight and other heat sources)

 

Comfort and Fit

 

UGG® footwear should be snug, but not uncomfortable.

UGG® twin-faced sheepskin boots will give a bit as they mold to your feet.

UGG® footwear is designed to be worn barefoot to maximize the cushioning and warmth of sheepskin.

The fleece footbed will mold to the natural contours of your foot, creating a personalized arch support.

The natural properties of wool will wick moisture away to ensure dry and cozy feet. Wool fleece helps maintain body temperature, making UGG® Australia footwear appropriate for all climates. In fact, the wool will keep your feet warm down to -30°F and cool up to 80°F.
